Take this as possible rumor, but it is plausible. I had been informed by GBCI that it typically takes 72 hours for exam results to flow from Prometric to GBCI. This information must get to GBCI and be lodged in their database before you will be permitted to register for a retest (this is assuming that you have not passed the exam).

I heard from one of my online students that someone at GBCI had suggested that March 17 would be the latest in the month that you could practically expect to be able to re-register by March 31. I'd guess that GBCI is anticipating a huge load of information as people rush to take the exam. So I doubt that March 17 is a certain deadline; maybe a pessimistic deadline?

If you feel you can prepare adequately, it makes good sense to take the exam in the 'early 20s' of the month, and then if you don't pass, keep trying to re-register.
