Principal
David Sheridan, Principal in Aqua Cura, was educated in civil and environmental engineering, earning a BS at the University of Pittsburgh and an MS and PhD at Penn State University. In 1978 he opened an office in Baltimore for the engineering consulting firm Gannett Fleming, and provided water and solid waste management consulting services to municipal governments in Maryland and Northern Virginia, and to the District of Columbia. Dave provided advice and engineering analysis to the City of Baltimore in some of its early nutrient management strategy for the Chesapeake Bay. In 1992, he assumed management of Gannett Fleming's environmental practice, a $25 million annual business unit, which he directed until 2002.
In 2002, Dave formed Aqua Cura to focus his efforts on critical water issues facing U.S. society. As he worked in the area of sustainable management of water resources, he recognized the essential linkage between water and energy. This connection lead him to become deeply involved in the green building movement. Aqua Cura is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, and Dave served as the first chair of the Water Efficiency Technical Advisory Group for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) program from 2004 to 2008. He also represented the water efficiency area on the LEED Steering Committee. He is also the executive director of the Green Building Association of Central Pennsylvania.
Dave has been active in professional organizations for his entire career. He is a Fellow in the American Society of Civil Engineers and has been a member of the Water Environment Federation since 1972. He is a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania and a LEED-Accredited Professional.
